The digestive and excretory systems are subsystems of human body and are connected to each other. The excretory system is a waste management system whose main function is to remove waste from the body whereas the digestive system is known as the energy system whose main function is to turn the food into fuel for your body. It breaks down food & harvests nutrients and gets them into bloodstream. Working and functions of digestive and excretory system are as listed below:
Human Digestive system
The alimentary canal, also known as the digestive system consists of many organs. To cut down the food into small molecules so that they are able to spread into our cells easily is the main job or function of digestive system.
The first site of digestion is your mouth. You enter the food into your mouth and grind the food into a paste with the help of your teeth’s. Chewing is very important in digestion process. Then the food is taken inside with saliva which goes to esophagus. It is a tube that tracks from the mouth to the stomach. Once the food ambits the stomach, then the food is churned by the muscles of the stomach, mixing it with an acid.
Now the food enters in the small intestine when it leaves the stomach. In small intestine food is further broken down into smaller particles. Carbohydrates are broken down into sugars, Lipids are broken into fatty acids, and proteins are broken down into amino acids. Enzymes produced by pancreas and small intestine helps in doing all this. Now the broken food enters the bloodstream to circulate around the body to the cells and tissues that need them. Nutrients and fats necessary for the cell growth are absorbed in the small intestine, so it is considered as a very important organ.
The last stage of digestion process is that what remains of the food called waste. We get the waste material after the nutrients are absorbed by the walls of the intestine. Used parts and fiber are the wastes produced during the digestion process. You can study for more digestive system information for free on internet.
Excretory System
Both, digestive and excretory system, interact with each other and work together through nervous system. Both plays very important role in human body.
Excretory system plays a vital role in maintaining homeostasis. Excretory system can be said as a way to get rid of chemical wastes. Unusable materials and fiber remains of digestion process are very dangerous for human body. These chemicals can be very harmful if they are not removed. Urea, salt and carbon dioxide are some wastes we produce in our cells.
After the completion of digestion system, excretory system comes into frame. Liquid waste and solid waste are deal separately. When the process is done with small intestine then the food is moved into large intestine. Here comes a stock of remains called as wastes. Many types of bacteria help in further digestion of these remains. The waste which is not used is removed into descending colon and then to sigmoid colon. Muscles push the waste to go towards the rectum unit when colon gets filled. Then that final solid waste is moved out excreted through the anus, which is as a whole known as a natural call. The following are the organs in Excretory System:
• Aorta
• Kidneys
• Bladder
• Ureters
